Meet Our Founders

“We love the shit out of wood, and see it as a valuable resource”

- Sarah and Nath Worth, The Wood Project Founders

Husband and wife duo, our founders Sarah and Nath started The Wood Project with a mission to make the most out of the valuable timber across the Mornington Peninsula region that was otherwise being chipped away to sawdust.

Sustainability was, and today still is the core purpose of this powerhouse pair.

Whilst working at their original full-time jobs, Sarah and Nath tell the story of how they left work to hold strategy days for their budding business idea. Holding weekly meetings in their lounge room and bribing the kids to ‘leave them to work’ was all worth it when in 2016 they quit their jobs and took the leap to officially start The Wood Project.

“We offered a service of taking logs to process into firewood, but we quickly saw this too was a waste of a beautiful resource as the log quality we were salvaging was too good to process into firewood" - Sarah

What started out as a sustainable firewood business soon grew into an all-inclusive sustainable solution for recycling timber and producing custom and unique furniture, fencing and timber slabs across Australia.

Today, Sarah and Nathan are still at the forefront of our day-to-day operations. The pair remain furiously passionate about our incredible timber, our customers, and creating opportunities to give a second-life to our local trees.
